Sympathy

This has been a crazy weekend!  And not in a very good way.  My son was running barefoot in the front yard and cut his foot open on broken glass and required three stitches to close it.  It was a long night in the ER.  Then we got news today that our friends had a miscarriage.  So my card today was inspired by the tragic events of others.  I hope they are comforted by knowing that I care enough to make them a card.

I took my sketch and colors from two more blog challenges.  I'm really liking combining challenges.  It really gives me a good place to start and get my creative juices flowing!  The two challenges I used this time were from Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts.

And here is my card:

I used several stamp sets with this card - Mosaic Madness, Petite Pairs, and Chalk Talk.  I definitely needed my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line the decorative lines (Mosaic Madness) up to make them go all the way across the page.  It was pretty simple though. The tag (Chalk Talk) was cut out with the Chalk Talk framelits and Midnight Muse Stitched Satin ribbon tied it off with a bit of Linen Thread.  The sentiment (Petite Pairs) was stamped in Cherry Cobbler then punched out with the 1 1/4" circle punch and framed with a circle of Cherry Cobbler punched out with the 1 3/8" circle punch and popped up with a Stampin' Dimensional.

I hope you enjoyed my card selection today and I look forward to sharing more with you tomorrow - hopefully for a cheerier reason! Pin It Now!

  2. I love your take on the sketch! The mosaic lines were perfect stamps to use. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week! Just a note -- your word verification is turned on. This makes it difficult for others to leave comments. There is a link on the FMS homepage that explains how to easily turn it off.

  3. Some color combinations can be a challenge to work with, just like some days in our lives. Your use of the heavy colors against the Very Vanilla background is genius! Thank you for playing with us at Pals Paper Arts this week. Hope it gave you a little creative therapy.
