Getting ready for daddy's day

Can I just say how much I love blogs that post challenges?! It always gives me a starting point for my creativity.

This week had a very simple design layout at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Check it out at http://www.handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com/

This seemed like a good one for a Father's Day card. Here's my take on it.

The card base is Crumb Cake. I used the Poetry Prints DSP from the Spring catalog - I thought it had a nice manly feel to it. The blue is Marina Mist with some Midnight Muse ribbon across it.

The focal point is one of the window framelits in Crumb Cake again. I outlined it with a small square of Midnight Muse and then a little larger square of Summer Starfruit. The stamp set is Delightful Dozen stamped in Midnight Muse and then the Father's is colored in with the fine tip of the Crumb Cake marker. A Naturals button and some linen thread finish off the look.

My crazy life!

Hello! Sorry to anyone who may have been checking lately for an update. I don't know why I thought I might have a moment to breathe when I decided to have 4 children, but I do love my crazy, breathless life despite getting put on the back burner often. Anyway, I promised to show you some cards so here goes...

This card was part of my Mixed Bag Stamp-A-Stack. We used a Whisper White card base with a layer of Pool Party that had been embossed with the Honeycomb embossing folder. The candles are made with strips of paper from the Sycamore Street DSP that was available during Sale-A-Bration.

The flames were made using the wings of the Bird builder punch and then outlines with Dazzling Details.

Finally, the sentiment stamped in Rich Razzleberry comes from the Bring on the Cake Stamp set. It was punched out with the Extra-Large Oval punch. The Decorative Label punch was used with Daffodil Delight to frame it and then a tiny piece of Tangerine Tango ribbon (also from Sale-A-Bration) adds the final touch. This card was a case from one I saw on Pinterest. Thanks to the original designer! It was a hit at my camp :).

Two Challenges - You are loved

Good Evening! I have so many cards to post but not much time so I'm just going to show one quick one I did for two challenges.

Obviously, I was holding the camera a little crooked when I snapped the picture! Anyway, this card uses the Elegant Lines embossing folder and the You are Loved stamp set - both which are retiring! Get them before they are gone!

April Club

Catching up is hard to do! Here are the projects we did for club in April:

I wanted to focus on using some of the colors that are retiring and also a few new (to me) things.

This card uses Baha Breeze(retiring color) and the Oh, Hello stamp set, ovals framelits, 1 1/4 scalloped circle punch, vintage faceted buttons, and paper doilies.

This card featured a new technique - faux patina. Colors used - Certainly Celery, Bravo Burgandy, Pretty in Pink, River Rock. The stamp sets are Artistic Etchings (retiring) and Itty Bitty Banners (with coordinating framelits). I thought the pearls added a nice touch. The celery ribbon has been retired since last year but figured we could still use it up! A little gold embossing powder gives it the aged look.

Color Renovation

Stampin' Up is doing a color renovation and I have to say that I'm liking the changes. Of course, I just bought several paper packs of colors that are now retiring so guess what colors I'm going to be using a lot of in my classes :) Here's a chart to let you know what is staying and what is going. There are many former In Colors returning to be part of the "main family".

Getting back in the groove...

I've had a difficult time getting back in the groove lately so I decided to look for some inspiration with some new blog challenges dealing with color and layout. Here are some of my creations this weekend.

This first one was a case from Liz at http://www.diypapercreations.com/ I only changed a few minor elements but really liked the design.

Next was a layout challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments http://www.handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com/

I needed a few pet sympathy cards so I pulled out a few retired sets and used some paper from the Holiday catalog that I had left over.

This one is from a layout design on the demonstrator website. I need to use up a lot of some of the colors that will be retiring soon so this seemed like the perfect card for that.

Next is a beautiful wedding card - also cased but I forget where I saw the original. Thanks anyway! And yes, the pearls were done one at a time, but really quick.

And finally, this was a color challenge from Color Throwdown http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/

I didn't have Orchid Opulence so I subsitiuted Wisteria Wonder for it. Pretty for a spring wedding!
