Summer stamping

Today, I have two cards for you.  I have to admit - blogging is hard for me.  I want to describe my cards in a way that is witty and fun and makes you want to recreate them, but I really struggle to find the right words.  So, since my mind is not being "wordy" today we'll just get on to the pictures.

This is the card I made for my dad for Father's Day.  I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches(link below) as my starting point.  I wanted to play with some of the new In Colors so I chose Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow.  I really like the combination of those two for a masculine card.  I used the Hardwood stamp set and also an all time favorite Lovely as a Tree.  Teeny Tiny Wishes was used for the sentiment.  The final touches were made with some Mossy Meadow ribbon and a Metal Button.

I saw the sketch for this card at retro sketches(link below) and knew it would be perfect with the color combo from Paper Players(link below) of red, white, and blue for a patriotic card.  The background stars were made using Whisper White ink and the new decorative masks - Hearts & Stars. I LOVE how it was so easy!  ***and they are very inexpensive too!  I did use some retired product on this card - a square punch and a star punch - but that just shows the quality of SU product - they last a LONG time.

I hope you enjoyed my cards for today.  I'll show you more soon!

  1. Love both your cards, and I don't think you have to worry about being "wordy"...the cards speak for themselves! Love your patriotic one, and personally, I don't know why they retired the star punch! It's a great one! So glad you could play with our colors this week!

  3. Denise, blogging can sometimes feel odd because you are really talking to yourself when you write... :-) I know what you mean. I love both your cards btw. the stars on the blue work so well and I love how you fishtailed the sentiment banner to repeat the angles in the stars. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players this week and shared this fabulous card.

  4. I like what Jaydee said - it's true, it feels like you're talking to yourself! Eventually you get used to it, I think, and some days you'll feel chattier than others :) I love both these great cards - the weathered wood panel on the first just pops! So glad you came to play with us at TMS - your card with that sketch will be shared on our Facebook page today: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tuesday-Morning-Sketches/165327566909261?ref=hl
