Split Negative

Good Morning!  I have one quick card to share with you today. I'm feeling the stress of school starting next week and hope to stay motivated to keep up with my cardmaking.  This is one that we made at stamp club - with a few embellishments.  It fits perfectly with the Friday Mashup Challenge  http://www.fridaymashup.com/ to use the colors Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black and Whisper White and have a wood element.
I used the split negative technique on my card for the wood element - it was my first time using this technique and I really think its a cool result especially for the background.  I've mostly seen it used as the focal point.
I'm really loving the Blended Bloom stamp set!  I forgot how therapeutic coloring can be :)  This is also a sneak peek at a new hostess set coming soon called Good Greetings.  Its filled with sentiments for the fall and winter holidays.

Stamp Sets: Blended Bloom, Flower Patch, Good Greetings
Ink: Staz On, Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Versamark
Paper:  Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Accessories: Hexagon Punch, Flower Fair Framelits, Banners Framelits, Aqua Painters, White Baker's Twine, Basic Metal Buttons, Black and White embossing powder

Summer days

Happy Summer!  Its been so nice to see some sunshine the last few days!  The one day that was cooler I used to be creative.  Here's what I have to show you...

I love the cool tones of this card with just a hint of warm with the yellow.  I was going for a patchwork quilt type of look with the Blended Bloom flower.  I feel like it needs something else but I don't want it to be too busy.  Suggestions anyone?

Stamps: Blended Bloom, Lots of Thanks
Paper: Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight
Accessories: Starburst Framelits, Stylish Stripes EF

Next is a card we will be making at my next stamp camp.  I love this color combo for a masculine birthday card. To make the holes in the background of the woodgrain piece I just used my handheld 1/8" circle punch.

Stamps: Truly Grateful, Sassy Salutations
Ink: Island Indigo, Hello Honey, Early Espresso
Paper: Island Indigo, Hello Honey, Early Espresso, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Accessories: 1/8" handheld circle punch, Autumn Accents Bigz Die, Blender Pens

Just a closer look - I used my paper snips to fringe the edge of the leaf/feather.

I really like the mixture of flowers on this card and the pop of color they bring.   I must say - candy dots are one of my favorite accessories.  They make it so easy to finish off a look.

Paper: Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Bermuda Bay
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Smoky Slate
Accessories: Brights Candy Dots, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Pansy Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Petite Petals punch

Return..part 2

Hello again!  I kept up with the creative ideas flowing last night until I went to bed.  And again this morning :)  Here's a few more cards and a tag too!

My daughter's birthday is coming up and she loves creative little things like this.  It will be perfect to attach to her present.  I used the 2013-2015 In Colors to do a little color blocking. To make the corners like a tag I just snipped off one side with my paper snips and then put that little piece on the other side as a guide as to where to cut so they would be even.

Stamps: Something to Say , Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe,  Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar
Paper: Whisper White
Accessories: Chalk Talk Framelits, 5/8" Organza Ribbon, Crisp Cantaloupe Baker's Twine (Sale-A-Bration), Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack

CHALLENGE: Color Blocking

Isn't this a fun little card!  I used the Circle Framelits to make my holes in my "cheese" card base.  I spent a bit of time coloring this morning on the next card to I wanted this one to be quicker so I just used my Stampin' Write Markers with complimentary colors to give it some depth.

Stamps: Giggle Greetings
Ink: Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Calypso Coral
Paper: Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Whisper White
Accessories: Circle Framelits, Sponge Daubers, White Baker's Twine

I did it.  I finally caved in and bought the Blended Bloom stamp set.  I've just seen too many gorgeous cards made with it and I wanted to be part of the action.  Now - I haven't invested in the Blendabilities just yet - my wallet only stretches so far...  I just used my aqua painter to color this beauty in but I really like it.  And coloring is super relaxing so two wins!  I used my Score board with the diagonal plate to make the background and then sponged over the whole thing.

Stamps: Blended Bloom, Flower Patch
Ink: Tangelo Twist, Soft Suede
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Watercolor Paper
Accessories: Simply Scored, Diagonal Plate, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Hexagon Punch, Stampin' Sponges

Just a close up of the flower - I love how it turned out!

I have to admit - I don't love this card.  However, I still post most of my creations in case they are a starting point or inspiration for someone else.  My kids like it though, so I guess I know who to give it to!  For some reason, my Pink Pirouette Ink and Paper do not appear to match in color on this card.  Maybe I had some residual ink left on my sponge dauber before I dipped in into this color.

Stamps: Just Sayin"
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Strawberry Slush
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Hearts & Stars Decorative Mask, Word Bubbles Framelits, Simply Scored, Hexagon Punch

Return of the MoJo...

Hello again!  I've been really struggling for the last week or so with feeling creative and getting the juices flowing.  Maybe part is because of so much anticipation to order from the upcoming holiday catalog and I think I was fighting off a mild flu bug too.  Well, today I felt it.  The creative juices were flowing so here's what I have for you (hint: SEVEN cards!)

This card is really quite simplistic.  I need to build up my stash of Graduation cards so I thought this was the perfect sentiment.  It uses one of my favorite new tools: Hearts & Stars Decorative Mask.   Just a little red ink, versamark and black embossing powder and some mini brads and voila! You have a card!

SUO Challenge 102, Favorite New Toys

I hadn't played with this stamp set for a while so it seemed like the right time to pull it out.  Its for the Friday Mashup.  I didn't use the Delft Tile technique but I think the fancy fan folder (reverse side forward) gives it a fancy tile look. Colors used are Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, and Smoky Slate.  The flowers from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and some Rhinestone Basic Jewels finish off the look.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using the "Sketch".
  • Create a project using the "Delft Tile Technique". Tutorial here
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project using the "Sketch & Delft Tile Technique".

This next one reminds me of The Nightmare Before Christmas!  I think Jack the Pumpkin King might enjoy sending this Christmas card in Halloween colors!  This is a sneak peak of one of the sets called Endless Wishes in the Holiday Catalog.  I was one of the fortunate ones who got it last year before it quickly sold out.  What do you think of this crazy combo?

I accidentally made my diagonals go the wrong way but it seems fitting with the elements on the card :)

I love a manly birthday card!  I tried to think outside the box for this one and used one of the stamps from the Very Merry Tags set (on the carryover list until August 27th!).  I used my stampin' write marker to only color in the image and not the words.  I have a lot of hunters in my family so this works perfect for them!  The sentiment is from Playful Pennants. A little woodgrain embossing on the back ties it all together. Colors used are Basic Gray, Basic Black, Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry.

One of the sweet ladies in my stamp club lost her mother-in-law a week ago.  This card is going to her.  It uses three different patterns of paper from the Moonlight DSP stack.  I used a square to frame the window framelit cut out.  I love how that looks.  Stamp set is Love & Sympathy.

This is a fun card for a tween.  I love the bright colors ( from Fab Friday).  This uses the new set Age Awareness.  Inside it says "Thanks Facebook!".  Perfect for many of the kids I know who love social media.

Finally a sweet thank you that went together very quickly.  Again, I used the Moonlight DSP stack, Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon, and the Itty Bitty Accents flower punch with rhinestones.  The sentiment comes from Lots of Thanks.

Coffee anyone?

I have two cards to share with you today.  As I was crafting I got a call from a good friend that I haven't talked to in a while.  She was in inspiration for the first card.  We keep talking about getting together and never actually doing it.  I might have to just invite her over for coffee!

Stamps: Perfect Blend, Perfect Pennants
Ink: Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Sweet Taffy DSP, Whisper White, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Silver Glimmer
Accessories: 3/4" circle punch, Hexagon punch, Regals candy dots, Blender Pens

I just love the Giggle Greetings stamp set!  It makes me laugh each time I pull it out to use it.  I tried to make the cat look like my own precious AJ but he didn't seem too interested in my card or his likeness here.
Stamps: Giggle Greetings, C is for Cat
Ink: Staz On, Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, Pool Party
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, Pool Party, Whisper White
Accessories: 1/2" circle punch, Labels Framelits, Decorative Dots EF, Blender Pens

Today

Welcome!  I have a few cards to share with you today.  I'm working on some ideas for an upcoming stamp camp so they are all with a birthday theme.  Here we go...

My first card is a masculine birthday. I always struggle with these and I was determined to make 2, so I pulled out my old faithful set "Lovely As A Tree".  This card is so very natural and neutral that it was easy to combine elements.

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Hardwood
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin' Sponge, Fringe Scissors, Banner Punch, Basic Metal Buttons, Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Woodgrain EF

CHALLENGE: This Beautiful Earth

Next, was a hard color combo for me.  I really like the look of the loopy twine I've seen on several cards and wanted to try it for myself.  I have no idea if I did the technique correctly but I'm satisfied with how it turned out.

Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Perfect Pennants
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey, Bake Brown Sugar
Paper: Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Fresh Prints DSP stack (retired)
Accessories: Chalk Talk Framelits, 1/2" circle punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, White Baker's Twine, Linen Thread, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Tiny Triangles EF

Week 2

Here is my other masculine card.  I love the Gorgeous Grunge set for cool looks like this.  Its quick and easy and fun.

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Basic Gray
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Accessories: Bitty Banner Framelits, Epic Day Washi Tape

Finally, I have a fun one for a kid.  I love the photopolymer stamps because they are so easy to use when stamping on an angle since you can see through the stamp and know where it is going to go.

Stamps: Age Awareness, Just Saying
Paper: Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Sweet Taffy DSP
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Word Bubble Framelits, 1/8" Silver Ribbon
